Mr. Gerrans established a partnership with Suzhou's Life Science Innovation Center in 2017 to establish a presence in China's BioBay, creating the Sanovas Suzhou Venture Capital Fund to invest in local biopharmaceutical innovations, particularly in surgical imaging and oncology. The partnership aimed to access the hub's scientific and medical talent and infrastructure, including the gift of a 30,000 sq. ft. Innovation Center at the Suzhou Institute for Nano-Technology and Nano-Bionics (SINANO) at BioBay, to advance Sanovas' goal of researching and miniaturizing medical technologies to cure Cancers and Chronic Diseases. Mr. Gerrans negotiated a $115 million matching Funds Grant in addition to the Venture Capital Fund.
Sanovas Suzhou Venture Capital Fund
Purpose: To directly invest up to $75 million into the development of Sanovas' medical innovations and fund other promising ventures in the region.
Focus: Surgical Imaging, Thoracic Oncology, Interventional Pulmonology, E.N.T., Ophthalmology, and Bioscience.
Goals: To create opportunities for Sanovas in China by providing access to scientific collaboration and local hospitals to advance medical research, study, technologies and therapies.
BioBay and SINANO Collaboration
BioBay: A major life science innovation hub in China that partners with companies to foster growth.
SINANO: The 30,000 sq. ft. Innovation Center within BioBay, which provided a new physical presence and a venue for collaboration with local scientific experts.
Partnership: Mr. Gerrans worked with the People's Government of Suzhou and Suzhou Industrial Park Biotechnology Innovation Center to bring his innovation engine to the BioBay hub.
